Carmel’s Akio Fujita used a strong second round to finish second in the Masters Boys division at the Indiana Golf Foundation’s Central Junior Masters tournament, which took place Monday and Tuesday at the Old Oakland Golf Club in Indianapolis.
Fujita, an incoming junior for the Greyhounds, shot a one-under par 71 on Tuesday to complement his first round 76 on Monday, totaling 147 for the two days. Fujita finished one shot behind Peyton Snoeberger of Williamsport, who won the event with a 146.
Fujita had five birdies for the tournament.
In the Masters Girls event, Fishers’ Julia Eaton, a junior-to-be at Hamilton Southeastern, was part of a three-way tie for second place. Eaton made a birdie during the first round, and finished with a score of 156 over two days.
