The Westfield wrestling team hosted the Shamrock Duals on Saturday.
Four Hamilton County teams participated; Carmel, Fishers and Noblesville joined Westfield at the meet. The Greyhounds finished in second place as a team.
Carmel beat Lawrence Central 65-14, Whiteland 75-0, Noblesville 63-12 and Zionsville 61-15 in pool matches before falling to Crown Point 35-24 in the championship match. Brac Hooper was undefeated for the ‘Hounds at 113 pounds, while Jonathan White had a 5-0 day at 285 pounds. Suhas Chundi (106), Joey Langeman (126), Brendan Mattingly (138/145) and Jake Shafer (145/152) all went 4-1.
The host Shamrocks took third place at the meet. Westfield beat Victory College Prep 82-0, Yorktown 81-0 and Mount Vernon 46-21 before falling to Crown Point 50-22. The ‘Rocks defeated Zionsville 39-32 in the third-place match.
Westfield had five undefeated wrestlers: Carson Eldred (120), Seth Martin (182), Gabe Arvin (195), Dakota Arvin (220) and Mihalis Platonovs (285). Braxton Vest (106), Dylan Driver (113) and Alec McLaren (145/152) all went 4-1.
Fishers finished in seventh place. The Tigers beat Homestead 37-22, Northview 54-21 and Noblesville 46-28, while losing to Crown Point 52-15 and Mount Vernon 51-24. PJ Pritchett went undefeated at 120/126, while JD Farrell was 5-0 at 195 pounds. Griffin Ingalls finished the day 4-1 at 113, while Josh Thompson was 4-1 at 138 pounds.
Noblesville took eighth place at the meet. The Millers defeated Whiteland 40-36 and Lawrence Central 54-24, while losing to Carmel, Fort Wayne Carroll 52-12 and Fishers. Two Noblesville wrestlers were 4-1 for the tournament: DeWayne Simpson at 160 pounds and Jacob Long at 220 pounds.
