The Noblesville boys soccer team won an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference game with Hamilton Southeastern 2-1 Tuesday at the White River Elementary School field.
The Class 3A No. 10 Millers got on the board during the fourth minute, with Palmer Ault putting a header into the net off a free kick from Harrison Christman. The 3A No. 11 Royals tied it up six minutes later, when Isa Sayeed scored.
Noblesville took the lead for good early in the second half, when Adam Carter punted the ballot Drew Barnes, who put it in the goal. The Millers held off Southeastern for the remainder of the game, with Bryan Diaz-Villalobos anchoring the Millers defense.
Noblesville is 4-2 in HCC play and has clinched third place. The Millers have one more conference game to play, at Brownsburg Thursday. The Royals finished their HCC season 2-4-1, placing them fifth, and completed the regular season 9-4-2. The Millers are 10-2-2 overall.
Westfield finished its HCC and regular seasons on a winning note, beating Avon 2-1 on Senior Night.
After a scoreless first half, the Orioles got the first goal of the game early in the second. Shamrocks junior Ben Wallace got the ball just outside the goal box, and went through a group of defenders to put the ball into the side net and tie the game. Moments later, sophomore Declan Wheeler won a corner kick, then sent the ball to junior Colin Maris, who scored and put Westfield ahead.
Senor captains Miguel Ayala and Max Von Arx both had strong games in the midfield. Senior goalkeeper Aiden Huddleston made a big save in the final seconds of the game.
The ‘Rocks finished 3-3-1 in the conference and 9-6-1 overall.
Sheridan was a winner in its final home game of the season, defeating Irvington Prep 2-0 on Monday.
Senior Will Zachery scored both goals, one in each half. Zachery got the first goal on a header at the 12:22 mark of the opening half, with senior Corbin Huffman making the assist. Zachery then converted a penalty kick at the 21:59 mark of the second half.
Senior goalkeeper Nick Roberts made 13 saves.
The Blackhawks are 5-6-2 for the season and play at Rossville on Thursday.
Carmel took care of business on Tuesday with a 5-0 victory at Harrison in its regular season finale.
Five different players scored for the 3A No. 19 Greyhounds: Seniors Ted Piha, Sam Thiel, Noah Green and Jackson Hoover, and sophomore Baenan Mckeown. Senior Griffin Lee made two assists, while seniors Sebastian Penix, Thiel and Babacar Diatta all had one assist. Senior Gabe Moorman recorded the shutout.
“The team played very well tonight,” said Carmel coach Shane Schmidt. “I felt that our wing play was a difference maker tonight.”
The Greyhounds ended their regular season 9-3-3.
Guerin Catholic, ranked No. 3 in 2A, cruised past 1A No. 13 Lafayette Central Catholic 9-1 in its Senior Night game and regular-season finale.
The Golden Eagles got goals from four of their five seniors, and an assist from senior Antonio Montero. Goalkeepers Aidan Perhacs and Alex Gardner combined to get the victory.
Guerin Catholic is 8-2-3 and plays at 3A No. 1 Zionsville on Thursday.
Fishers, ranked No. 9 in 3A dropped a Tuesday home game to 3A No. 15 Greenfield-Central 2-1 on Tuesday in its regular-season finale.
The Tigers finished their regular season 11-4.
GIRLS GAMES
Carmel won an all-county game 2-0 with Westfield Monday at Murray Stadium.
Kelsie James scored both goals for the 3A No. 2 Greyhounds. Her first one was unassisted with 48 seconds left in the first half, then James scored again in the 75th minute, off an assist by Brooke Bailey. Carmel goalkeeper Erin Baker had three saves.
Sydney Payne had nine saves as the Shamrocks’ goalkeeper.
Carmel is 12-0-3 for the season and plays at 3A No. 7 Center Grove tonight in a game that will determine the Metropolitan Conference champion. Westfield is 9-6 and travels to Avon tonight to finish Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.
Hamilton Heights cruised past Oak Hill 7-0 to win its Senior Night game on Monday.
The 2A No. 18 Huskies got their first goal three minutes into the game, when Maria Mitchell scored off a corner kick by Emma Hall, the first of Hall’s three assists. Emily Stern and Keri Townsend both scored two goals, while Paige Doucette and Jayla Logan both had one. Stirn, Mitchell and Cassidy Felger all made one assist.
“The Husky offense did a great job of controlling the ball and connecting passes while making great runs on the offensive third of the field,” said Heights coach Travis Kauffman.
Heights is 8-2-4 and hosts Pendleton Heights tonight.
University played to a 2-2 tie with Triton Central on Tuesday.
The 1A No. 4 Trailblazers finished their regular season 11-2-3.
