The town of Atlanta will host its third annual Midwest Railfest from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.

The festival, held on the town’s Main Street, will feature live music, artisan booths, train rides and demos on local rail history. Entry to Midwest Railfest is free and open to the public. The Northern Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce (NHCCC) developed Rail Fest as a fundraiser for the Chamber.

“Atlanta, Arcadia and Cicero evolved because of the railroad that runs through each of these communities,” said Liz Foley, NHCCC Vice President and one of the organizers of the Railfest. “The Railfest offers a special opportunity to celebrate the area’s rich history, the impact of the rail line, past and present, and to showcase the county’s northernmost community. We invite train hobbyists, enthusiasts and those just wanting an afternoon of good old-fashioned fun to join us at this year’s Railfest.”

The Nickel Plate Express will offer rides during the festival, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Rides are $10 and will board at 105 E. Main Street in Atlanta.

“We’re looking forward to participating in our first Midwest Railfest,” said Dagny Zupin, communications coordinator for Nickel Plate Express. “With the addition of Mr. Muffin’s Trains and the Choo Choo Café to downtown, Atlanta has truly become a Midwest train destination.” Dan’s Fish Fry, an Indiana favorite, will offer an all-you-can eat fish and chicken fry for $10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Atlanta fire house.

The festival will feature a variety of food and craft vendors with items for show and sale, children’s activities and fun for the whole family. To purchase tickets to ride the train during the festival, visit NickelPlateExpress.com.
