Girls tennis: Sectional championship matches take place today

The Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers girls tennis teams advanced to today’s championship at the Noblesville sectional with 5-0 semi-final wins on Wednesday at Noblesville East Middle School.
The 16th-ranked Royals beat the host Millers, winning four of the five matches in straight sets. The No. 2 singles match was a battle, as HSE’s Adalyn De Witt overcame Noblesville’s Alli Maskew in a third-set super tiebreak 10-4, this after both players split 6-4 sets. At No. 2 doubles, the Royals’ Misha Bukkasagaram and Nikki Hite won in two tough sets over the Millers’ Kaylee David and Sierra Leach, 6-3, 7-5.
Meanwhile, the No. 22 Tigers defeated Hamilton Heights, winning all five matches in straight sets. No. 3 singles Addy Kolb had a tough match from the Huskies’ Brooke Sears, before closing it out 6-2, 6-3.
Southeastern and Fishers will play at 4:30 p.m. today at NEMS for the championship.

Over at Carmel’s Todd Witsken Tennis Center, the No. 3-ranked Greyhounds will meet No. 25 Guerin Catholic for the sectional championship, as both team won their Wednesday semi-finals 5-0.
Carmel beat University, while the Golden Eagles won over Westfield. All of the matches were decided in straight sets. The two teams will play each other at 4:15 p.m. today for the sectional title.
