Heights drops two tough road games

Hamilton Heights dropped two games this week on the road against tough teams.
On Tuesday, the Huskies lost to Class 2A No. 2 Alexandria 12-2 in five innings. Heights scored both of their runs in the top of the first inning, when Andrew VanOeveren batted in Sam Wahl and Erik Malott. But the Tigers scored five runs in the bottom of the inning and never trailed again.
Lucas Letsinger had two hits for the Huskies.
Heights traveled to Clinton Prairie on Wednesday and fell 11-3. The Huskies scored two runs in the fifth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles from Brody Piel and Sam Allen. Issiac Hickok got the first run, then Alex Hewitt scored; he was running for Allen.
Nate Hulen singled in Erik Malott in the sixth inning. Piel pitched five and a third inning, tossing seven strikeouts.
“We are really struggling with consistency right now,” said Heights coach JR Moffatt. “Our lack of offense has put stress on our defense and we have lost a little of our confidence in the field. I have got to do a better job of putting them in situations to be successful. Right now I just need to do a better job and keep working to build their confidence. We will work at it. Thankfully we have three games this weekend to try and work out the kinks.”
The Huskies are 8-11 and will play Friday at Sheridan, then host Frankfort in a Saturday doubleheader.
