A Westfield graduate is using faith to help share his story after he was hit by an SUV while walking in Charleston, S.C., almost two years ago.
Ben Littrell, 25, is speaking at schools across the city to encourage those of all ages to never give up. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Littrell said.
Ben believes his passion for faith has helped him recover.

“I feel like it separates me from the average person just walking on the street,” he said.
February will mark two years since the Westfield graduate was ran over by a car in Charleston. Littrell was in a coma for months with a severe brain trauma.
“I don’t think I was headed down a good path,” he said. “I was just focused monetarily and that money is great in this life, but what good is it in the afterlife?”
After a year in Atlanta, Littrell was finally able to come back home. His days consist of therapy at the Neurorehabilitation and Robotics Center at IU Health. The crash left him without feeling on his right side. Now, he’s learning how to walk, talk and regain his balance.
“They didn’t know if he was going to live,” Ben’s father Paul Littrell said. “He quit using the cane and just tried to walk without an assistance, but it was a tough walk.”
But that’s not it. He spends the other 50 percent of his week speaking at schools throughout the Indianapolis area motivating students to see the good in every situation.
“There’s so many people when bad stuff happens they think everything is over,” Littrell said. “I just think it was a redirection.”
Littrell’s goal is to follow his heart and influence those through his story of redirection. Without his faith close to his heart, he says he wouldn’t be able to tell his story.
