After nearly three weeks, Carmel was finally back on the court.
The Class 4A No. 2 Greyhounds played at 4A No. 8 Center Grove Friday in a big Metropolitan Conference game. Carmel used a third-quarter run to take control and beat the Trojans 47-37, keeping its perfect record intact at 8-0.
The ‘Hounds led 20-18 at halftime, but then outscored Center Grove 15-7 in the third quarter, and that would be the difference in the game. Three Carmel players reached double figures, led by Andrew Owens, who threw in three 3-pointers on his way to 13 points.
John Michael Mulloy and Karsten Windlan each added 10 points. Peter Suder led the Greyhounds’ rebounding with nine, followed by Owens with seven and Mulloy with six.
Carmel will play at the Eric Clark Activity Center tonight, hosting Westfield at 7:30 p.m. It will be the first time since Nov. 30 that the Greyhounds have played at home. Carmel’s game with Anderson has been re-scheduled to Tuesday, Jan. 22. It was originally to be played last week, but was postponed after the Dec. 26 explosion at the high school.
