Sheridan Main Street, Inc. invites everyone to the annual Christmas on Main Street festivities on Saturday, Dec. 1.
From 2 to 4 p.m., you can visit Santa’s Workshop located in the First Christian Church basement. There kids can hear stories, make crafts and receive a prize after visiting the other participating merchants.
When the children visit Mama’s Cupboard, they can guess how many pieces of candy are in the container. Then they can travel south on Main Street to the Creekside Chiropractic for some Christmas BINGO and then next door to The Grapevine where they can write letters to Santa.
From 4 to 7 p.m., Sheridan will prepare for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Wagon rides will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the tiny house in the Town Square from 4 to 6:45 p.m. The local Girl Scout troops will hold a gingerbread house decorating contest in the First Christian Church Basement. Please join them from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. to judge the gingerbread houses.
Sheridan business owners and residents are encouraged to get in the Christmas spirit by decorating their businesses and homes. The first place business Christmas display will win a $100 gift card, and the best overall residential outdoor home Christmas decorations will win the same prize. This contest is open to anyone who lives in the Sheridan school district.
This year there is a Christmas cookie baking contest with two categories, “Best Tasting” and “Best Decorated.” Anyone living in the Sheridan school district is eligible to enter the contests.
If you are interested in entering any of these contests, you can pick up the rules and entry forms from any of the following locations: Town of Sheridan Clerk’s office, Adams Township Trustee’s office or the Sheridan Public Library.
There will be live music and hot cocoa to help put everyone in the Christmas spirit.
The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. Special guest Santa will light the tree and then will announce all of the contest winners.
