Hamilton Heights School Corporation recognizes Craig Adkins, Instructional Assistant at Hamilton Heights Middle School, as the newest Husky Hero.

Adkins joined Heights in 2026 and also serves as the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) Data Coordinator for the middle school. He was nominated by Jessica Granson, who shared the meaningful impact he has had on her sixth-grade son, even though he is not one of his students.

Granson wrote, “Mr. Adkins, I believe, is new this year or maybe from last year. My son is a 6th grader and has mentioned him several times. Although he does not have Mr. Adkins as a teacher, he sees him in the halls, and he has made an impact. Calling him by name, always saying hello, or asking how he’s doing. That tells me he gets to know not only his own students but all of the students at HHMS. I know kids must really like him because my son says he has a lot of playful nicknames from students. I can only assume he is a fun teacher to be around.”

“Being nominated and selected as a Husky Hero means a great deal to me,” Adkins said. “It’s an honor, and it reminds me that the small things I do each day really do make an impact on our students. Whether it’s high‑fives, handshakes, or making them laugh, I want students to know that someone is in their corner. This recognition tells me those moments matter.”

Supporting both students and staff is at the heart of his work.

“Students need encouragement, guidance, and someone they can rely on – and teachers need a partner who can offer feedback, assistance, and an extra set of hands when needed,” Adkins said. “Knowing that what I do helps make their days a little easier and more successful is what keeps me going.”

Looking ahead, Adkins says the award strengthens his commitment to Hamilton Heights Middle School.

“Receiving the Husky Hero award motivates me to continue showing up and delivering for HHMS in whatever capacity I’m needed,” Adkins said. “This is a special place, and I’m proud to be part of it. I want to keep contributing to the positive environment we’ve built and help it remain strong for years to come.”
