The football season started off a little wonky. We lost the first two games by more than 20 points each. But since then, we have been undefeated, going 5-2.
Our team has a lot of sophomores playing because our junior class has about three players in it. I think having so many sophomores on the field led to our first two losses because they are young, and other teams fed off them. But now we are on a roll, and we’re coming for that conference championship.
Hayden Alexander, our running back, averages 116.4 rushing yards per game. Landon Moffitt, our wide receiver, averages 47.0 receiving yards per game. Hayden Alexander also has 13 total touchdowns this season. Waylon Grinstead, our main linebacker, averages 9.4 tackles per game. Waylon Grinstead also has two sacks. Brock Hagen, the quarterback, has a 98.3 QB rating. These stats show that we are here to play, and if you try to stop the run, we can still air it out.
My experience on this team has been outstanding. I love the culture and the coaching staff. This team is very close with each other, and we are like a family. I feel that our team is very good, and if we beat Eastern this week, then all 1A football teams are going to know that we are here to play.
We have given Blackhawk fans plenty to celebrate in 2026. After a challenging 0–2 start, we responded with five straight victories, improving to 5–2 overall and remaining undefeated in conference play. From a hard-fought 12–7 win over Clinton Prairie to a great 52–12 victory over Delphi, we have shown that we can bounce back and keep building momentum.
With more football ahead, the fans will have even more to celebrate.
