Dear Editor:
I’ve had the opportunity to get to know Robyn Cook over the years through several conversations, and with the upcoming election for Jackson Township Trustee, I felt like I should also share why I believe she deserves to continue in that role.
I’m a resident of Jackson Township, so I want someone who genuinely cares about the people who live here. Someone who thinks about decisions not just in terms of what they mean on paper, but how they affect people and the community as a whole.
That’s what I see in Robyn.
She understands that being trustee means people may need help at all hours of the day. Life’s problems don’t just arise during regular business hours, and I know she makes herself available when people need her, even if that means nights and weekends. I appreciate her compassion for people and how seriously she takes the responsibility of being trustee. She understands that her decisions have both financial and quality-of-life consequences, and I’ve always found her thoughtful about both.
I also know Robyn and I share a concern about the growth coming to our area. Jackson Township is a special place, and as more development moves our direction, I believe we need to be thoughtful about how we grow while preserving the identity of our community. From the conversations I’ve had with Robyn, I know that matters to her too.
But honestly, those things aren’t the main reason I’m writing this.
What stands out to me is Robyn herself.
We see plenty of examples these days of people in elected positions who become caught up in personal vendettas, fame, power, money, political pressure, or other outside influences. In my interactions with Robyn, I’ve never gotten the impression that she is motivated by those things.
She seems able to block out the outside noise and focus on a much simpler question: What is the right thing to do for the people of Jackson Township?
That matters to me.
I don’t expect perfection, because no one can be held to that standard. But I do believe Robyn approaches the job with integrity, compassion, and a genuine concern for the people she represents. Most importantly, I trust her.
As a resident of Jackson Township, that’s something I value tremendously in the person who serves as our trustee.
For those reasons, I’m supporting Robyn Cook for another term as Jackson Township Trustee.
