On Monday, Oct. 5, former Indiana Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann, a Republican who served in the Pence Administration, endorsed independent candidate and former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard for Secretary of State.

“As Lieutenant Governor I was privileged to work alongside Greg,” Ellspermann wrote in a statement. “It was refreshing to see how Mayor Ballard deeply engaged with Indianapolis constituents, implemented forward-thinking initiatives, and worked with both sides of the aisle to improve our Capital City. Greg Ballard will lead with highest integrity as Indiana’s Secretary of State: listening to Hoosiers, protecting our elections, and working in a nonpartisan manner to make Indiana better. Please join me in voting for Greg Ballard for Secretary of State in November.”

Ballard thanked Ellspermann and said she’s the kind of public servant needed in government today.

“I’ve got enormous respect for the former Lieutenant Governor and always have,” Ballard said. “She’s a rational, practical, problem-solver – and we need more people like her in government. I appreciate her support and our shared commitment to doing the right thing for Hoosiers. People from all backgrounds are noticing the policy-driven, respectful tone of our campaign. Sue embodies this as a public servant, and I am humbled by her support.”
