Tipton Community School Corporation (TCSC) has been awarded $86,000 through Indiana’s Secured School Safety Grant (SSSG) Program, the largest award among the four districts in Carroll and Tipton counties.

In total, the participating districts received more than $186,000 to support security personnel, vulnerability assessments, updated safety technology, and other critical improvements that strengthen school safety.

“This funding will support ongoing efforts to strengthen school safety across TCSC, including security personnel, vulnerability assessments, updated safety technology, and other measures that help protect our students and staff,” Superintendent Scott Jaworski said.

The SSSG program provides matching grants to public, private, and charter schools statewide to support practical, high impact improvements that enhance school security.

This year, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security awarded more than $26 million to nearly 500 schools and school corporations across the state as part of its continued investment in school safety. Since the program’s creation in 2013, Indiana has invested over $240 million to help schools prepare for and respond to potential safety threats.

“We are grateful for this support and remain committed to using these funds responsibly to ensure our district continues to offer safe and welcoming environments for our students and staff,” Jaworski said.
