AI agrees with me

AI has become a prominent current topic of discussion.

I recently happened to overhear my techno-genius partner, Seth Wilson, debating the issue with our recently hired Eric Foley. Eric had just received word that he passed the Indiana Bar Exam and will soon be admitted to practice in October of this year. Eric was up for a serious discussion. The debate became lively, and it soon drew in other participants from our office.

Like President Bush, I have opinions, very strong opinions, but I don’t always agree with them.

In this particular case, however, I felt sure that the youngest debater among us was on the right track.

Continued debate seemed to bring no consensus.

That is when I wisely interrupted and said, “Gentlemen, let’s run it on AI.” At that point, the topic of debate temporarily changed and revolved around whether we should use ChatGPT, Grok, or Gemini. With an agreed-upon AI platform selected, the issue was presented and AI had what I thought was a remarkably good answer. It mirrored my own opinion on the topic almost word for word. The young man had won!

But wait, Techno-Genius Seth has a follow-up question, “What is the source authority for the AI opinion we received?”

More work followed on AI to determine the source information used to create the opinion. That inquiry revealed a shocking source and showed why Seth is a techno-genius. It was a newspaper article written by Ray Adler on the topic! AI agreed with me exactly because it had cited me as a source of its authority!

The result was artificial but not necessarily intelligent, or at least not more so than if they had asked me directly.
