Dear Editor:
Carmel school officials are trying to bully their way to more of the citizen’s hard-earned money.
In defending an eight-year, $83 million (plus interest) referendum, school officials used the threat of lower educational outcomes for kids.
And all because the state reduced property tax an average of 10 percent.
The bullies forgot to mention:
- Flat-to-lower enrollments over the last decade.
- Their current $350 million total debt obligation.
- An additional $56.5 million (plus interest) bond in the works.
- And a budget running at $250 million a year
Perhaps Carmel really needs a school board and school superintendent with better money management skills.
