Skateboarding’s impact on my life

Skateboarding is an action sport where the skater performs tricks on a board with trucks and four wheels. They perform grinds, flips, and slides.

To me, skateboarding is a lifestyle and culture rooted in individualism, subculture, art, and creativity. Skateboarding is an art form in the sense that it takes mastery and skill to preform visually appealing tricks and video parts. The culture is deeply rooted in anti-culture, uniqueness, community, and individualism.

I personally got into skateboarding through the culture being around me as a kid. My brother and the people I would see skating around places I would go deeply inspired me to pick up skating. Since I was around 12, my biggest passion has been skateboarding. I quickly gained a passion for skating through my immersion in the culture and my love for the process of skating.

The reason I’m passionate about skateboarding is that I feel I can reach full creativity and full expression when I am on the board. I truly believe that it is the most embracing community. I have met so many cool people and had so many experiences in the community, and they have been some of the realest people I have ever met.

I truly believe skating has greatly impacted my life and my passions.
