Carmel officials release 2027 budget presentations for public review online

Carmel city officials have released the 2027 department budget proposal presentations online.

This method of publishing budget information differs from years prior by allowing both community members and City Councilors to thoroughly review department budgets ahead of time. Residents and Councilors will have an opportunity to submit questions to be answered and posted online by the city.

The proposed $252.4 million budget will be discussed and livestreamed during a joint meeting between Mayor Sue Finkam, city leadership, and members of the City Council on Monday, Sept. 28. The formal budget presentation will occur at the City Council’s regular meeting set for Monday, Oct. 5.

“This new budget process is a continuation of our effort to prioritize transparency and on-demand access to the public,” Mayor Finkam said. “Our ultimate goal is to allow our residents to hear detailed breakdowns as to how the City of Carmel is being a good steward of taxpayer dollars.”

All budget presentations can now be viewed by clicking here, where the public can find all recorded budget presentations for each department, individual PowerPoint decks and any additional information provided by the departments.

Questions regarding the overall budget or individual department budgets may be sent to budget@carmel.in.gov. There will be a dedicated Q&A section on the webpage where the public can view questions submitted by other community members and the City Council.
