Liesel Mertes, trainer and workplace empathy expert, will serve as the keynote speaker. After the death of her daughter, Mercy Joan, Liesel emerged with a deep understanding of what people need to feel supported at work after a disruptive life event. As the Founder of Handle With Care Consulting, Mertes works with companies and event organizers who want to enable empathy in the workplace, elevate performance and create meaningful connections across audiences and teams.

In this interactive, reflective session, “Human-Centric Skills: How to Create a Culture of Empathy at Work,” Mertes empowers participants to be workplace first responders, offering empathy, connection, and care when it matters most. Participants will learn what empathy at work is and why it matters to build the necessary skills to communicate and support people as they encounter disruptive life events and overcome common personal and organizational obstacles to empathy.
