Calling all hams!

Amateur Radio Field Day is set for this weekend, June 27 and 28, at Cool Creek Park, 2000 E. 151st St. in Westfield.

Field Day is a nationwide event where over 30,000 local amateur radio operators across the country demonstrate emergency communication capabilities by setting up temporary stations and making contacts across the country. It highlights how radio can operate independently of traditional infrastructure during disasters.

This event offers a great story opportunity, including:

  • Live demonstrations of emergency communications
  • Demonstrations of STEM Education: Field Day provides hands-on learning opportunities in electronics, radio technology, and wireless communication, making it an engaging way for students and families to explore science and engineering concepts.
  • The opportunity to interview local operators about preparedness and technology and amateur radio.

The event will be open to the public from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Cool Creek Park.
