Indiana Governor Mike Braun has proclaimed June 2026 as Nuclear Family Month across the state.
His proclamation, issued on Monday, June 1, appears in full below.
WHEREAS, the nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for the family structure and has been the foundation of society since the creation of the world; and
WHEREAS, research reports that children living with their married, biological parents have better physical and emotional well-being; and
WHEREAS, when families weaken, society must compensate with expensive, inferior approaches such as welfare systems, schools as surrogate parents, and police as surrogate discipline; and
WHEREAS, strong families are the most effective means to raise children into capable adults; and
WHEREAS, Hoosier values celebrate the commitment mothers and fathers have made to each other and to their children; and
WHEREAS, as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, we recognize that growing and strengthening families is critical to the next 250 years.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Braun, Governor of the State of Indiana, do hereby proclaim the month of June, 2026, as
Nuclear Family Month
in the State of Indiana, and invite all citizens to duly note this occasion.
