Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance has announced the promotions of Michael Kummer to director of national sales distribution and David Brentlinger to executive director and chief life actuary.

Kummer joined Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance in 2020 as director of independent agencies. Now, as director of national sales distribution, he leads the expansion of the company’s United Home Life brand of life insurance products across 48 states. He oversees sales and product development, while also directing marketing efforts including advertising and social media. Before joining Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, Kummer spent more than 25 years in field marketing with Farmers Insurance.

“I am most excited about the opportunity to grow our life insurance footprint on a national scale,” Kummer said. “Our simplified issue life products provide us the opportunity to increase market share outside of Indiana through various platforms, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”

Kummer earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Evansville and holds a Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation. He lives in Zionsville with his wife, Shannan, and they have three adult children: Hannah, Madison, and Jackson.

Brentlinger joined Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance in 2024 as chief actuary of the Life Division. In the expanded role of executive director and chief actuary, he provides leadership in growth initiatives and across all lines of risk management while continuing efforts to build a best-in-class actuarial team.

“I look forward to continuing to build a high-performing team that creates meaningful value for the company and our policyholders,” Brentlinger said. “I am also excited to be part of the leadership team that develops life insurance products that broaden access to protection and deliver long-term financial security for families in Indiana and across the country.”

A Carmel native, Brentlinger graduated from Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science. He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst. Brentlinger and his wife of 40 years, Cheryl, have two adult daughters and two granddaughters.
