Softball, baseball sectional games postponed due to rain

Several sectional softball and baseball games involving Hamilton County teams were postponed due to field conditions caused by Wednesday morning’s rain.

The Sectional 8 baseball tournament at Noblesville’s Don Dunker Field was pushed back to tonight. Hamilton Southeastern plays Carmel at 5:30 p.m., while the host Millers take on Zionsville at 7:30 p.m. The schedule for the Friday semifinal games was not affected.

Sheridan is hosting Sectional 39 baseball. Wednesday’s games were moved to tonight. Frankton plays Elwood at 5 p.m., with Lapel and Taylor to play at 7:30 p.m.

The semifinal games that were originally scheduled for tonight have been pushed back to Friday. Tonight’s winners will play at 5 p.m., while Sheridan and Tipton play their semifinal at 7:30 p.m.

Hamilton Heights is playing in Sectional 24 at Jay County. Wednesday’s first-round games (Connersville-New Castle and Yorktown-Jay County) were pushed back to tonight, at 5:30 and 8 p.m. respectively. The Huskies were to play Delta tonight, but that game is postponed with a reschedule date to be determined.

Softball changes

Hamilton Heights’ softball team was to play New Castle in the semifinals of Sectional 24 at Connersville on Wednesday, but that game has been pushed back to tonight at 7:30 p.m., following the Jay County-Delta game. The championship game that was scheduled for tonight will be played at 6 p.m. Friday.

Sheridan is playing in Sectional 39 at Tipton. The Blackhawks’ semifinal game with Frankton was rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. this afternoon, followed by the other semifinal between Elwood and Lapel. The championship game was moved back to 6 p.m. Friday.

Tonight’s Sectional 8 championship game between Westfield and Noblesville was not affected and it still set for 6 p.m. at Zionsville.
