Finkam
State Rep. Danny Lopez announced Monday, May 18 that Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam and Westfield Mayor Scott Willis will serve as co-chairs of his reelection campaign for the Indiana House.
Lopez, a Republican, is seeking reelection in House District 39, a district entirely within Hamilton County that includes portions of Carmel and Westfield.
In 2024, Lopez was elected following the retirement of former Rep. Jerry Torr, who served more than two decades in the General Assembly.
After scoring an impressive victory in Carmel’s 2023 mayoral election, Mayor Finkam has leveraged her experience in the private and public sectors to accelerate the city’s economic growth, engage stakeholders to meet its evolving housing needs, promote public safety, and position Carmel as one of America’s most attractive suburbs. She served as Council President in 2017 and 2021, and has an impressive track record as an entrepreneur and business leader.
“Having strong, experienced partners in the General Assembly is critical to ensuring Carmel’s priorities are represented,” Finkam said. “I am excited to support Danny Lopez’s campaign and the bold, results-oriented leadership he will bring to the Statehouse.”
Mayor Willis also took office in 2023 following a resounding victory in Westfield’s mayoral election that year. A retired Marine Colonel, Purdue-educated civil engineer, and successful business leader, he is strategically capitalizing on Westfield’s rapid growth and has positioned it as a magnet for global talent and investment.
“During his first term in office, Danny Lopez was invaluable in protecting the interests of our community and I look forward to supporting him through another successful campaign,” Willis said. “He has an established record as a leader who brings solutions to the table, and I’m excited to continue working with him on issues that impact Westfield.”
Lopez said he is ready to keep working with Finkam and Willis to make sure Carmel and Westfield are heard in the Statehouse.
“Mayors Finkam and Willis have been exceptional partners as I work in the Statehouse to advance our priorities, like preserving local control and ensuring our communities can continue to invest in amenities our residents value,” Lopez said. “Carmel and Westfield drive so much of the economic and cultural activity in our state, and I look forward to continuing to work with these two amazing leaders to ensure our voice is heard loud and clear in the General Assembly.”
Danny and his wife, Sofia, live in Carmel with their two children, Daniel and Alexandra.
