Huskies teams take runner-up at Big Orange Meet

The Hamilton Heights track & field teams hosted the Big Orange Meet on Saturday, April 18.

Both the Huskies girls and boys teams finished second at the meet. The Heights girls were a close runner-up to Northwestern; the Tigers scored 129 to the Huskies 127.

Heights won eight events in the girls meet. Waverly Woolever took the 300 hurdles and high jump, and joined Norah Reiger, Raegan Van Kirk and Gracie Bortone to win the 4×400 relay. Reiger was also the champion in the 200 and 400 dashes.

The Huskies team of Anna Monnin, Allie Bushey, Lilly Higgins and Maddy Higgins won the 4×800 relay. Bushey finished first in the 3200 run while Lilly Higgins won the 800 run.

Guerin Catholic finished fourth as a team, with Amelia Smith winning the pole vault.

Lebanon ran away with the boys meet, scoring 138.5 points to win the team title. Heights scored 84.5 points for second place. Will Duncan swept the discus and shot put events.

Guerin Catholic finished fourth with 70 points and picked up three event victories. Seffrin Smith won the 110 hurdles and joined Isaac Justin, Grant Bauman and James Moody to take the 4×100 relay. Cole Eckstein was first in the 800 run.
