Nominations now open for 2026 Golden Hoosier Award

Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith has announced that nominations are open for the 2026 Golden Hoosier Award, the state’s highest honor recognizing senior citizens for their lifetime of volunteer service to their communities.

“The Golden Hoosier Award celebrates the unsung heroes among us,” Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith said. “These senior citizens have spent decades giving back, lifting others up and strengthening our communities. I encourage Hoosiers across the state to nominate someone whose selfless service deserves to be honored.”

Presented in partnership with the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and AARP Indiana, the award is open to current Indiana residents age 65 and older who have volunteered in their communities for the past three years or more.

It should include the nominator’s contact information, the nominee’s details and a summary describing the nominee’s service and impact.

Award recipients will be honored at a special ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse on Sept. 2. The deadline to submit nominations is July 15. If you have questions about the Golden Hoosier Award, email GoldenHoosiers@fssa.in.gov.
