Pritchett announces run for HSE school board

Janet Pritchett, local businesswoman, 10-year classroom and community volunteer, and mother of four, has announced her run for the vacant Hamilton Southeastern District 2 School Board seat.

Pritchett

According to Pritchett, she has a long history of servant leadership specifically focused on public education. Her service spanned individual classrooms, five different parent teacher organizations (PTO), the Superintendent’s Advisory Council and leadership of the district-wide PTO Forum. She has aided in building playgrounds, advancing STEM education, celebrating educators, and growing both volunteer and financial support of local schools.

Pritchett is running on a student- and teacher-focused platform. Among her top priorities are to:

  • Explore alternative testing methods beyond standardized testing. “Student learning and growth is dynamic and anything but standard,” said Pritchett.
  • Establish Hamilton Southeastern as an employer of choice by focusing on teacher retention. “Student success is built upon world-class teachers. Retaining and investing in top talent, especially in the face of a state and national teaching shortage, must be a top priority,” said Pritchett.
  • Create transparency in decision-making and time-sensitive communication. “21st century communication is complex with multiple channels and delivery methods. While providing just-in-time communication to a district of 22,000 can be tricky, by listening to our core audience we can find areas for process improvement,” said Pritchett.

Pritchett elaborates, “Hamilton Southeastern is an incredible school district that benefits from strong parent and community engagement. School board members should set a strategic vision to maintain that excellence. That includes providing educators with critical resources to build forward-thinking, global learning environments. While that can be a challenge in the current economic environment, I am committed to asking tough questions, working collaboratively, thinking creatively and listening to all stakeholders.”
