Carl Steele vacated his seat on the Westfield Washington Township Board earlier this year. He was elected to the board in 1982 and served in this role for 36 years. According to Carl, “Serving on the board has been an important part of raising my family in the Westfield Community. Westfield has grown from a small town to a major city in Hamilton County during that time.”

Board members must reside within the township, so when Steele moved out of state, he had to resign from his board position. He was able to witness many positive ways in which the residents have been impacted as the township has evolved and grown over the years.
“The one thing that I think has had the most positive impact for the citizens of Washington Township was the expansion and development of McGregor Park,” Steele said. “Lots of work and planning and struggles went into that project and the Park is a wonderful and important part of the Township and will be enjoyed for many years in the future.”
A caucus was convened on June 21 with Westfield Washington Township precinct committeemen. Danyele Easterhaus was unanimously voted to fill the vacant seat on the Westfield Washington Township Board.
“We are very thankful for Carl’s tenure and service to our township and wish him all the best,” said Trustee Danielle Carey Tolan. “Danyele has a passion for serving the community so we are looking forward to having her join the Board.”
When asked about having the opportunity to fill the open seat on the board, Danyele indicated that she is “excited to join the board to continue to serve in Westfield and bring a voice for students and the young adults in the community.”
