On Thursday, March 19, the Westfield Police Department received 8 Automated External Defibrillators (AED) donated by Bolt for the Heart. Bolt for the Heart is a nonprofit organization serving Indiana with a clear mission: to save lives by expanding access to lifesaving Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Bolt for the Heart is able to provide AEDs to local public safety agencies due to donations and participation in their annual Bolt for the Heart 5K race held each year on Thanksgiving Day.

At the age of 13, Danny (now 23, pictured second from the left) experienced a sudden cardiac arrest while playing baseball in Westfield. Sgt. Tyler Dougherty (middle) quickly responded, using a donated Bolt for the Heart AED to save his life. Westfield Police currently outfits all patrol vehicles with an AED, due to the generous donations of AEDs from Bolt for the Heart.
