September 30, 1944 – December 26, 2025
On December 26, 2025, Camilla “Sue” Gatewood, originally born Camilla Sue Budreau on September 30, 1944, in Fowler, Ind., left us to continue her journey in the eternal. Sue resided in Cicero, where she lived a full, vibrant life. She was a loving and thoughtful person whose generosity knew no bounds. Her compassion was a beacon of light in the lives of many, her heart full of kindness and understanding.
Sue led an accomplished and fulfilling life, both professionally and personally. She spent her working years as a receptionist in a bustling architectural firm, meeting countless faces with her warm and inviting smile. She was widowed, but her marriage was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Sue was an avid quilter, crafting beautiful pieces that mirrored her intricate personality. She also enjoyed reading romance novels, immersing herself in tales of love and adventure. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the recipients of her boundless love and attention, and she cherished her time with them.
Sue is survived by her daughter, Tina Childers; granddaughters, Stefanie (Kyle) Dunagan, Samantha (Todd) Childers, and Sabrina Childers; great-granddaughters, Serenity Childers, Sandra Dunagan, and Para Warner; and brother Jerry (Sally) Budreau. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Rosa (Brewer) Budreau; son, Gino Cortellini; and siblings, Sonny Budreau, Steve Budreau, and Sandy Budreau. Her memory will continue to live on in their hearts and the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Camilla loved her animals dearly and always made time for them. She was a beacon of warmth, love, and nurturing, and she will be dearly missed. Her life, a beautiful tapestry of love, giving, and compassion, will be celebrated and remembered.
The Celebration of Life for Camilla will be held at The Benton House, 312 S. Downey Ave., Indianapolis, in Historic Irvington, from 1 to 4 p.m. January 18, 2026, where friends and loved ones can gather and share wonderful memories together.
We encourage you to share your favorite memories of Camilla and upload photos to her memorial page. By doing so, we keep her memory alive and pay tribute to the remarkable woman she was.
