Ruth Ann Hawley, 89, born in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Heritage Woods of Noblesville. She was born on October 11, 1936, to Vernon E & Frieda S. Jay (Trost).
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ester Hall (Jay) and Mary Ellen Chipley (Jay); brother, Paul Jay; as well as deceased husbands, Edward Hogle and Orba Hawley.
She is survived by two brothers, John Jay of Laura, Ohio, and James Jay of Pleasant Hill, Ohio.
Ruth was a dedicated housewife and loved her children and all their families listed below. She loved farming, growing her garden, camping, and fishing. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Jackson Foote Hospital in Jackson, Mich. After retirement, she moved to a 10-acre cabin in Grayling, Mich. She loved her dachshunds! Sony was red, and she had two litters of puppies. Later in life, she had 17 years with Snoopy at the cabin; he enjoyed cheeseburgers and resembled a black log with four legs! She also loved taking the fifth-wheel camper out west every winter. She will be missed as she was always kind and loving to her six children, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Son Chris Hogle and grandchildren Blu & Amy Hogle, Dylan & Erica Hogle, and Billi (Hogle) & Kevin Allman. Blu & Amy have great-grandchildren, McKenna, Delaney, Serena, and Alexis. McKenna just added a great-great-granddaughter, Josie.
Dylan’s added grandchildren, Jaeden and Abby. Billi & Kevin added grandchildren Braden, Madelyn, Kylah, and Gabby.
Son James & Joanne Hogle had grandchildren Alex Hogle, Brian & Chelsea Carman (Hogle), and great-grandchild Dylan. Nick & Emily Miller had great-grandchildren Jackson and Ben. Ryan & Lauren Dimick have great-grandchildren, Macy & Joey.
Daughter Michele Pierce (Hogle) & Rob had grandchildren Kristine Pierce and Lauren Combs (Pierce) & Michael Combs and great-grandson Rylan Turner.
Stepson Randy Hawley has two grandsons, Tim Hawley and Alan Hawley. They have great-grandchildren, Abigal, Lucas, Hunter, Angel, Neviah, and Samantha.
Stepdaughter Laurie Adams (Hawley) – David Adams has grandchildren, Zachary, great-great-great-grandson, and Shaelynn, great-great-granddaughter. Denelle Adams – Kaylee Zamora’s granddaughter, and they have Aleena and Mirajane, great-great-granddaughters. Kyle Adams grandson, Nathaniel Dignard grandson, and Greyson’s great-great-great-grandson. Preceded in death by Jeffery Adams, grandson, Cameron and Colton, great-and Breanna, great-great-granddaughter.
Stepdaughter Shari King (David preceded in death) has grandchildren Russell King, Melissa Ray, William King, great-great-great-grandson and great-great-great-grandson Carson, and great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter Kayce. Great-grandsons Caleb and Cody Hoover, and Breanna Thacker great-great-great-great-granddaughter.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family at Bethel Lutheran Church Columbarium. Arrangements are in the care of Harley-Dunnichay Funeral Home in Cicero.
