As the holiday season sparks feelings of love and hope, the staff and volunteers at the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) are disheartened by the reality that over 500 animals won’t have a family to go home to this holiday season.
In an effort to overcome the shelter’s ongoing capacity crisis, HSHC announced this week that it will host a Black Friday adoption event from noon to 5 p.m. Hosted at HSHC’s facility off of Hague Road in Fishers, adoption fees for all eligible* pets will be $10 on Black Friday.
“Our most urgent animals have waited several months, and in some cases over a year, for an adopter to come,” said Emma Nobbe, Community Engagement Manager. “This holiday season, we ask the community to open their hearts and homes to the hundreds of animals waiting for their second chance.”
All pets adopted from HSHC are spayed/neutered, microchipped, have at least one round of age-appropriate vaccinations, come with a starter bag of food, and a complimentary wellness exam with one of our participating veterinarians.
The shelter hopes to inspire folks to “fill their hearts, not their carts” on Black Friday. Through the power of community, HSHC truly believes it can place many of the 500 animals in its care into a home for the holidays.
Things to remember on Black Friday
- All members of the household, canine and human, are required to meet potential dogs – bring everyone.
- Those interested in adopting a cat or dog are encouraged to complete an application in advance at com.
