Girls soccer roundup: Hawks win key HHC game

The Sheridan girls soccer team picked up a key Hoosier Heartland Conference victory on Monday, beating Eastern 4-0.

Olivia Long scored the Blackhawks’ first goal 16 minutes into the game, with Brielle Garner making the assist. Savannah Kirlin kicked in the second goal 10 minutes later with a volley set up by Norah Stiles.

Sheridan thus led 2-0 at halftime and added two more goals in the second half. Sadie Timme scored them both, kicking in a Stiles cross for the first goal, then making a penalty kick with nine minutes left.

The Blackhawks hold a 2-0 record in the conference and are 7-3-1 overall. Sheridan continues HHC play on Wednesday with a game against Rossville.

Fishers scored a 2-0 win over Harrison Saturday, Sept. 19.

Georgia Scott and Maddie Mason both scored one goal for the Tigers, with Rena Sawada and Mya Williams both dishing out one assist.

Fishers played Bishop Chatard on Monday; stats will appear in a later edition. The Tigers host Avon Wednesday to finish Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.

Westfield took care of Brebeuf Jesuit 3-0 in a Saturday, Sept. 19 game.

Avery Van Den Berg, Tatum Hauser and Talia Edwards each scored one goal for the Shamrocks. Aryana Ali and Elle Fischer both made one assist. Leah Hunsucker collected three goalkeeper saves, while Emma Deitsch made two saves.

Westfield is 10-1-1 and travels to Brownsburg Wednesday for an HCC game.

Noblesville beat Brownsburg 3-1 Saturday, Sept. 19 to pick up an HCC victory.

Brooklyn Gibbons, Sophie Hedges and Caylee Cunningham all scored goals for the Millers. Delaney Stone and Hannah Struve both dished out one assist, while Hailey Wilbur made three saves.

Noblesville hosts Penn Saturday afternoon.

Carmel took care of Castle 4-2 in a Saturday, Sept. 19 game.

Adalyn Cameron poured in three goals for the Greyhounds, with Ella Sarson scoring one. Freshman goalkeeper Gwyneth Provost collected two saves.

Carmel plays at Plainfield on Wednesday.

Guerin Catholic dropped a 1-0 game to Evansville Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The Golden Eagles played Cathedral on Monday; stats will appear in a later edition. Guerin Catholic plays McCutcheon Wednesday.
