Judith Ann “Judy” Stowers

June 26, 1939 – August 16, 2025

Judith Ann “Judy” Stowers, 86, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Terhune, Ind., on Saturday, August 16, 2025. She was born in Hamilton County on June 26, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Owen and Velma (Clark) Roudebush.

Judy was a cafeteria cook at Adams Elementary in Sheridan for 22 years, retiring in 1998. She had a lot of fun with her coworkers and enjoyed seeing the school children come through the cafeteria line each day. Prior to working at school, she was a stay-at-home mom to her daughter.

She greatly loved her family. Spending time together was always something she enjoyed. Judy loved to laugh and have fun. She also loved Jesus, and even though she didn’t regularly attend church, she read scripture and lived her life according to the Holy Word.

Judy and her husband Jack enjoyed traveling. Along with their daughter, they took long road trips to the west coast, visiting family along the way. In later years, Judy and Jack discovered a love for Myrtle Beach, S.C., and spent time there every year until they were no longer able to travel.

She loved country music and NASCAR. The kitchen radio was always tuned to her favorite country music station. And those close to her knew not to contact her on Sunday afternoons while a NASCAR race was on the TV. She didn’t want to miss a moment of the race.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Steward (Brad) of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Marissa Steward (Jeremy Holden) of Nashville, Tenn., and Erica Steward (Jake Richards) of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Velma (Clark) Roudebush; two brothers, Wilbur Roudebush and Ronnie Roudebush; sister-in-law, Connie J. Roudebush; niece, Rhonda Biddle; and by her beloved husband Jack Stowers on February 2, 2005. She and Jack were married on June 29, 1958, and they shared 46 wonderful years together.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Boxley Cemetery, 25911 Six Points Road, Sheridan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home of Sheridan.
