Sheridan Elementary School (SES) is continuing its commitment to student growth and support with its Response to Intervention (RTI) program.

Stephanie Lego led the RTI program at SES for the past three years, and she retired at the end of the school year. She concluded an incredible 30-year career in education and impactful three years of leadership. She was and is dedicated to supporting students and has left a lasting impact on SES and the RTI program.

Lego’s role has now been replaced by the excellent first-grade teacher Alexis Daugherty.

Daugherty has experience in both special education and general education. Along with her team of Veronica Cardwell, Vicy Welch, Tina Kitchel, and Gayla McMurtry, they are ready to take on a year of helping struggling young readers meet their goals.

The RTI team will work directly with all the students that need extra remediation or intervention services. Including the dyslexia screening process that is given at the start of every school year. This outstanding team will analyze student data, plan, and collaborate directly with the teachers to best meet the needs of Sheridan students.

The experience and passion that Daugherty brings will ensure a smooth transition and continuation of prioritizing literacy and learning for all students. The RTI team along with SES is prepared for a strong and successful year ahead.
