Prism Project wraps third season
The standing ovation was no surprise last Sunday when the 2025 class of the Prism Project at Allied Solutions Center presented its culminating public performance.
Aimed at children and young adults with a range of physical, sensory, and cognitive disabilities, the performing arts day camp just completed its third year at Allied Solutions Center. “Finding Our Light” was the title of this year’s production, written especially to capitalize on the abilities and interests of the 26 performers.
New class explores business of music
If you want to make a living – or even a little extra income – playing music, talent only goes so far. A new class at Allied Solutions Center can help you rise to the next level.
Led by professional musician and author Brett Wiscons – who has played more than 3,500 shows and also has a business degree – Musician: From Hobby to Career is a friendly and casual course that offers tools and techniques to build a career in music. Topics will include recording, touring, sync licensing, branding, merchandising and forming an LLC. Each week, a different industry professional will share insights from their area of expertise.
The cost is just $150 for five sessions, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 8 through Oct. 13. Click here to learn more and register for Musician: From Hobby to Career.
Educators, schedule your free field trips
If you’re a public or private school educator in search of free field trip opportunities for your students, then you’re looking in the right place because the 2025-2026 schedules for Student Matinees and Science of Light & Sound presentations has been released. Both series present engaging, inspiring, entertaining – and, yes, educational – live events free of charge for central Indiana student groups.
This season’s five Student Matinees include fun science presentations and professional music, drama and dance performances aimed at various grade levels. The 10:30 a.m. events typically run 45 to 60 minutes, each followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. Click here to check out the Student Matinee schedule.
Science of Light & Sound is a lively and interactive 60-minute program in which Allied Solutions Center’s experienced production engineers use the audio and lighting systems in the elegant Payne & Mencias Palladium to illustrate basic science principles in line with the Indiana Academic Standards for Grade 4 Science. Several morning and afternoon dates are available; click here for more information.
If the cost of getting kids to the Center is an issue, you can apply to the Transportation Grant Program for reimbursement of your expenses.

It’s not too late for summer music fun
Space is still available in a couple upcoming programs at Allied Solutions Center:
- Beginner Ukulele is the introductory class in the wildly popular three-tiered ukulele education program, and in a rare opportunity, a few spots are still available in the section that meets at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, July 9 to Aug. 6.
- Jungle Jams is a weeklong summer day camp for young ones aged 5 to 7, who learn about teamwork and positive character qualities while being introduced to basic musical concepts and common instruments. This year’s camp runs 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 21 to 25.
Explore the mysteries of the concert hall
You may have driven past the Payne & Mencias Palladium, a neoclassical landmark on the Carmel skyline. You may even have attended events in the elegant concert hall and marveled at its visual and auditory beauty.
But do you still sense something missing in your relationship with this fabulous community resource?
Fill the void in your life with one of the Payne & Mencias Palladium Public Tours, in which learned volunteers point out key features of the building and discuss its origins, architecture, acoustic treatments, special event spaces, and other features. The free, one-hour experience is available at 10:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month (advance registration required) and also by appointment for groups.
