Westfield’s Will Harvey finished as runner-up Friday at the Boys State Junior Championship, which took place at Purdue University’s Kampen-Cosler Course.
Harvey easily won his semifinal match against Middlebury’s Silas Haarer by the score of 2&1. Haarer led 1 Up through 14 holes before Harvey won the next three to clinch the match.
In the championship match, Harvey fell to Fort Branch’s Peyton Blackard 2 Up. Blackard won the 11th hole to tie the match, then took holes 16 and 18 for the victory.
The Boys State Junior Championship was Harvey’s second major tournament in two weeks. Harvey won the IHSAA state meet individual medal last week at Prairie View, also helping the Shamrocks to a record-setting team state title.
