She won the trip to Florida, but she earned the healthy life

Because she took an axe to her BMI, Barb Campbell and her husband Tim (Chaplin, above right) will soon be enjoying their trip to Florida. (Photos provided)

Barbara Campbell is going on an all-expense-paid trip to Florida, more than 70 pounds lighter and immeasurably happier with her life. Thanks in part to the many readers of The Reporter who voted for her, Campbell won the national Medi-Weightloss Transformation Vacation Getaway. There are 108 Medi-Weightloss locations in 28 states, and thousands of other people were involved in this contest.

Campbell worked with the team at the Noblesville/Fishers Medi-Weightloss Clinic, 14350 Mundy Drive #500, Noblesville, and was able to reverse obesity, elevated triglycerides, pre-diabetes symptoms, and metabolic syndrome on a safe, medically supervised program.

Campbell told The Reporter she is grateful for all the support she had to make both the win and the weight loss happen.

“When it comes down to it, quite honestly, it wasn’t it’s not based on the amount of weight loss because there were people that lost a lot more than I did,” Campbell said. “I think it was really based on the story and social media. At the end of the day I have a lot of people that got out there and voted for me. I felt the love.”

Campbell credits her husband, Editorial Cartoonist Tim Campbell, with the support that helped her reach her goal. She also gives credit to the fine folks at Pasto Italiano, 3150 E. State Road 32, Westfield.

“Tim was very very supportive, and I know it was hard for him,” Campbell said. “Kent and Patsy [former owners of Pasto Italiano] and the girls up there held me accountable. They even helped me with my choices of what I was eating up there. That was helpful. I didn’t even have to think about it. They just knew ‘Barb can’t have x, y, and z. This is what she can have.’ If you don’t have that support system, that can also break you as well. I didn’t want to let them down either because they knew how hard I had worked.”

Campbell said it was a mental journey as much as a physical one.

“It’s probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life, but it’s been so well worth it,” Campbell said. “I was on the floor today with my granddaughter, and I got up off the floor with her in my arms with no help – not holding on to a wall, not holding on to a piece of furniture. I could not have done that two years ago. It’s all mental, you know. If you’re not mentally ready to do anything there is no program in the world that’s going to help you.”

Campbell said once she made that choice, Medi-Weghtloss staff went above and beyond to help her.

“They saw me as a person,” Campbell said. “I wasn’t just a cash cow coming in to get on a scale, then pay you money and you tell me you know how bad I am because of my habits. It wasn’t like a shock system – it was all baby steps. They were holding me accountable, but it wasn’t unreasonable. They saw me for me, and I got to know everybody. They’re there to support you, and that made all the difference.”

Campbell has successfully maintained her weight loss with weekly visits to Medi-Weightloss for ongoing counseling and support. Recent lab work revealed her triglycerides are normal and she is no longer pre-diabetic. The program has enabled her to not only drop unwanted pounds, but to dramatically improve her health in the process.

“We’re thrilled that our patient, Barbara Campbell, was voted the Transformation Vacation Getaway winner by Medi-Weightloss patients nationwide,” Noblesville/Fishers Medi-Weightloss Owners John and Margaret Baranowski said. “Barbara’s desire to reach her personal wellness goal in time for her daughter’s wedding inspired her weight loss journey and was relatable to many. She was determined to get healthy and chose Medi-Weightloss Noblesville/Fishers to help her lose weight safely and keep it off by making sustainable lifestyle changes.”

On her trip to Florida, Campbell will attend a professional photo shoot at the Medi-Weightloss headquarters. Keep reading The Reporter for some forthcoming Florida photos.
