Fishers High School’s Future Black Leaders club is presenting the sixth annual Juneteenth Jubilee at Conner Prairie from 5 to 8 p.m. on June 19.

This annual student-managed event, presented in partnership with Fishers Arts Council (FAC) and Conner Prairie and supported by community members, features black-owned businesses and visual artists, culinary artists, community resources, as well as talented performing artists. The event offers free family-friendly activities, creating opportunities for community connection and learning for people of all ages. This ongoing collaboration highlights a shared commitment to celebrating culture, history, and community through art, education, and engagement.

The Fishers Juneteenth Jubilee was founded by Fishers Equity Awareness in 2020 and has been organized and managed by students from Fishers High School’s Future Black Leaders club since 2022. This is the third year it will be held at Conner Prairie. Last year 2,500 individuals enjoyed the Jubilee with their families. Roughly 30 spaces remain for vendors to join this annual event. The deadline to apply is May 19. Interested individuals can visit fishersartscouncil.org/juneteenth to sign up. Entertainment applications are also open with a deadline of May 19.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for small and large businesses to help support different areas of the Jubilee. Details about sponsorship can be found at fishersartscouncil.org/juneteenth and all sponsorship levels include a booth space at the 2025 event.

The Juneteenth Jubilee has left a lasting impact on the students involved.

“Juneteenth is valuable because it helps connect our community together and educate people about something that might not get attention regularly,” said Jayden Rucker, one of many student organizers for the Juneteenth Jubilee and 2024-2025 President of FHS Future Black Leaders Club. “It also serves as a fun celebration and opportunity to connect with local black-owned businesses to really promote the progress and growth that’s been achieved over our history.”

The broader community has also embraced the event. One past attendee shared, “The Juneteenth Jubilee is a great way to learn about and celebrate the culture, history, and traditions of our neighbors. It truly helps build stronger community connections.”

FAC Executive Director Les Reinhardt said, “We are proud to support these students and the community-focused event they create year after year. The student leadership makes all the decisions regarding vendors, entertainment, and promotions. It’s truly amazing to see what our youth can make happen in Fishers.”
