DeAnne Burns Kinsey, 64, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, colleague, and friend, passed away peacefully May 8, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Noblesville with her loved ones near.
A funeral service to honor DeAnne’s life will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Christ United Methodist Church, 318 N. Union St., Westfield. Family and friends may gather for a visitation at the church beginning at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in DeAnne’s honor to Christ United Methodist Church.
She was born on July 13, 1960 in Lafayette, Ind., to William and Mary Burns. She married her college sweetheart, Jim Kinsey, with whom she shared 40 years of love, devotion, and laughter.
DeAnne is survived by her husband, Jim Kinsey; sons, Daniel (Kari) Kinsey and Wil (Ashley) Kinsey; mother, Mary Burns; brother, Jeff (Tessa) Burns; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Burns; and children, Mary Elizabeth, John Webster, and Samuel James.
DeAnne graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University where she lived at Glenwood Cooperative. She received a Master’s degree in Counseling later in life from Indiana Wesleyan University and started her own therapy private practice soon after. A gifted and widely respected therapist, she gained recognition training others in the transformative therapeutic approach Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). DeAnne was also instrumental in the recent founding of the Westfield Counseling Collective at Christ United Methodist Church.
DeAnne lived a life of unwavering devotion to those she loved. Family was most important to her, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed laughter-filled get-togethers that stretched for hours, especially with her cherished college friends.
She was known for her sense of humor, storytelling, and deep empathy. People turned to DeAnne in times of joy and sorrow alike. She had a special gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
