Sheridan Community Schools celebrates third graduating class of Blackhawk Ambassadors

Sheridan Community Schools recently graduated its third class of Blackhawk Ambassadors, a group of dedicated community members who have taken an active role in learning about and supporting the inner workings of the school district.

The Blackhawk Ambassador Program brings together a diverse group of current parents, grandparents, local business owners, program directors, and new staff members. Throughout the school year, participants attend seven early morning sessions from September through May, each offering a behind-the-scenes look at all aspects of school life, ranging from daily scheduling, business management, long term/growth planning, academics, student services, operations, and much more.

These ambassadors have had the opportunity to tour school facilities, meet school leaders, experience an average day in the school, explore financial and safety protocols, take a look at hiring processes and supports available, and engage with plans for curriculum development and long-term growth. Through this experience, they’ve become key communicators and supporters of the district’s mission.

This year’s graduation ceremony will be held in May and includes a celebratory breakfast where new ambassadors are honored for their commitment. For the first time, past ambassadors are also invited back, creating a reunion of community members who have shared in this unique experience. This also offers a time for past Ambassadors to get caught up on the happenings of the district.
