Fishers’ Schellhammer named to girls Futures Game roster

Fishers freshman Riley Schellhammer is among the 24 players that have been named to the rosters for the 2025 IndyStar girls’ All-Star “Futures Game,” games director Mike Broughton announced Thursday.

The Futures Games, one each for boys and girls, are a third-year part of the Indiana All-Star basketball program. The Futures Games will pair teams of current Indiana freshmen and sophomores in a North-South format. The third annual Futures Games doubleheader will be June 2 at Fishers High School. The girls’ game is set for 6 p.m., and the boys’ game will follow about 8 p.m.

Schellhammer will be one of the 12 players competing on the North Team for the 2025 Futures game. She will be joined by freshmen Delaney Noll and Suzy Perego of Homestead, Fort Wayne Snider freshman Janaya Cooper, McCutcheon sophomore Lillie Graves, Marion freshman Nyomi Hahn, Penn freshman Addison Hummel, Pendleton Heights sophomore Adah Hupfer, Merrillville sophomore Malika Jenkins, Westville freshman Hillary Labis, Hammond Morton sophomore Kylah Patterson and Northridge sophomore Lily Scholl.

Players selected for the 2025 South Team are Evansville Memorial sophomore Rylee Canaan, Loogootee sophomore Alaina Diamond, Franklin Central sophomore Payton DuVall, South Knox sophomore Kendal Hill, Heritage Christian freshman Riley Johnson, Eastern Hancock sophomore McKenzie Koch, Greensburg sophomore Claire Larrison, Roncalli sophomore Elliot Leffler, Plainfield sophomore Hannah Menser, Gibson Southern sophomore Paige Schnaus, Cathedral freshman Caroline Wiggins and Mt. Vernon (Fortville) freshman Zoey Wood.

Koch, Schnaus, Menser and Graves all played in the 2024 girls’ Futures Game, where the South prevailed 95-86. Koch totaled seven points, two rebounds and three assists for the South. Schnaus added six points and one rebound, while Menser chipped in three points, four rebounds and two assists for the South. Graves had five points, three rebounds and three assists for the North.

Wes Radtke of Class 2A state runner-up Rensselaer Central is head coach of the North Team. He will be assisted by Brad Bowsman of Twin Lakes. Hollie Anson-Eaves of 2A state champion South Knox is head coach of the South Team. She will be assisted by Matt Vick of 1A state champion Borden.

Radtke is 145-73 in nine season as head coach at Rensselaer Central. Bowsman has posted a 303-218 mark in 22 seasons at Twin Lakes, including two sectional titles and one regional crown. Anson-Eaves has amassed a record of 177-110 in 11 seasons with previous sectional titles in 2017 and 2019. Vick is 106-84 in eight seasons at Borden.

Players and coaches for the All-Star Futures Games are selected by a Futures Games committee co-chaired by Broughton and Bill Zych, a retired coach who amassed a 478-375 record over 37 seasons while a head coach at Winamac, Rensselaer Central, Jay County, Center Grove, Shelbyville, Perry Meridian, Pike and Southport.

The North and South each has won once in girls’ Futures Game history, while the South boys lead 2-0 in their series with the North.

The North prevailed 73-63 in the inaugural girls’ game in 2023 as Maya Makalusky of Hamilton Southeastern scored 15 points for the winners. Jaylah Lampley of Lawrence Central netted 12 points for the South that year.

Last year, Lola Lampley of Lawrence Central scored 17 points and Maddy Shirley of Evansville Central added 14 points as the South won 95-86. Myah Epps of Homestead countered with 17 points and Laniah Davis of Marquette Catholic had 13 points for the North.

Braylon Mullins of Greenfield Central totaled 16 points and Azavier Robinson of Lawrence North netted 14 points as the South won 100-96 in the 2023 boys’ game. Flory Bidunga of Kokomo had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the North that year.

In the 2024 boys’ game, Jaylan Mitchell of Evansville Reitz scored 22 points, Julian Smith of Mount Vernon (and now Cathedral) provided 20 points and DeZhon Hall of Pike had 17 points as the South pulled out a 116-113 decision. Kai McGrew of Lawrence North scored 17 points, Jason Gardner Jr. of Fishers tallied 16 points and Reginald Hinton of Gary West had 15 points for the North.

The Indiana All-Stars program was founded in 1939 when the Indiana boys’ All-Stars played the state champion Frankfort Hot Dogs. The All-Star series with Kentucky began in 1940, and the girls’ portion of the All-Stars was added in 1976. The Junior All-Stars, boys and girls, were added in 1996. The Futures Games doubleheader was added in 2023.

The Indiana portion of the All-Star Games is organized and produced by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association. The Indianapolis Star, with its IndyStar brand, is the title sponsor. Hoosier Shooting Academy is a presenting partner for All-Star week. Energy Systems Group is a presenting partner for the Saturday doubleheader against Kentucky.
