The Indiana Mad Ants have acquired guard Boogie Ellis from the Stockton Kings as part of a three-team deal including the Austin Spurs. Mad Ants guard Kyle Mangas will be joining the Spurs. This move was made official Thursday night.
Mangas was in his second season with the Mad Ants. The Indiana native appeared in 37 games between the tip-off tournament and regular season. He averaged 15.2 points per game.
He appeared in 51 games during the 2023-24 season and played in the G League Up Next Game. He averaged 16.9 points for Indiana last year.
Mangas grew up in Warsaw, Indiana and played collegiately at Indiana Wesleyan from 2017-2021. Prior to joining the Mad Ants, he played overseas in the Czech Republic and Lithuania.
Ellis, 24, is in his first season in the G League. The California native appeared in 19 games for the Kings. He averaged 10.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 21.8 minutes per game.
Boogie began his college career at the University of Memphis and was named AAC Sixth Man of the Year during the 2020-21 season. Ellis transferred to USC ahead of the 2021-22 season and received First-Team All-Pac-12 honors in his first year with the Trojans. He averaged 12.2 points per game across 125 games during his college career.
Ellis went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft and joined the Sacramento Kings for Summer League. The Kings signed him in September before waiving him a month later. Stockton signed him on Oct. 27.
The first-year guard will wear #1 with the Mad Ants. Indiana’s next game is on Sunday on the road against the Delaware Blue Coats (76ers affiliate). Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
