Tipton city officials announced Friday plans to install new playground equipment at Tipton City Park, with construction scheduled to begin the first week of March. The equipment represents the largest playground investment the city has made in the past 30 years.

The new playground structure was purchased through a matching grant partnership with GameTime and Omnia Partners. The equipment exceeds ADA compliance standards and provides enhanced connectivity features for children of all abilities.
“This significant investment in our park system reflects our commitment to creating inclusive recreational spaces that serve all residents,” Tipton City Park Superintendent Diana Tomlinson said. “The Tipton City Park has always been a valuable gathering place for our community, and this new equipment ensures it will continue to be a source of joy, activity and connection for generations to come.”
The new installation will replace aging equipment that has required multiple repairs in recent years, providing a safer and more accessible play environment for community children.
The project aligns with Tipton’s 2025 Strategic Vision, which includes a focus on reinvigorating community pride through initiatives that promote the city’s unique identity and enhance quality of life for residents.

Schmicker
“When families choose where to live and build their futures, community amenities like the Tipton City Park play a crucial role in that decision,” Mayor Kegan Schmicker said. “This investment isn’t just about new playground equipment – it’s about pride in our community spaces, creating lasting memories for our children, and demonstrating our commitment to Tipton’s future. Our park has always been the heart of community gatherings, family celebrations and childhood adventures, and this upgrade ensures that tradition continues.”
Construction is expected to be completed in time for late spring recreational use.
