Hamilton Southeastern Schools (HSE) announced Tuesday evening that for the first time in its history, families living outside the district’s boundaries will have the opportunity to apply for enrollment. This decision, approved by the Board of School Trustees, opens the door for more K-12 students to join one of Indiana’s top-performing districts.

Applications for out-of-district enrollment will go live Friday, Feb. 21 and will follow a process based on eligibility criteria and campus availability at select schools.

“This is an important moment for Hamilton Southeastern Schools,” Superintendent Pat Mapes said. “By welcoming students from outside our district, we are able to expand access to the high-quality educational opportunities that define HSE while strengthening our ability to serve the greater community.”

The change in policy reflects HSE’s commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of public education, ensuring financial stability through maximized enrollment and resource allocation.

Hamilton Southeastern Schools is Indiana’s third largest school district, serving more than 21,000 students across Fishers and parts of Noblesville.

“Our district has always been guided by its mission to provide excellence in education and opportunities for all students,” Superintendent Mapes said. “By extending enrollment, we are able to equip the next generation with the skills needed to achieve their goals and contribute positively to an ever-changing world.”
