Dear Editor:

Months ago, I wrote about the sad state of our choices for president in the 2024 election. At the time, it was a choice between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump. My point then was that there should be a younger, more vital person involved, as these two candidates both appeared old and tired. That was before the first debate, which led to the Democrats suddenly deciding that Biden was not a viable candidate. This was after previously claiming he was the sharpest man in the room at official meetings.

Next came the sudden installment of Ms. Harris as the Democratic Party candidate. This caused a great deal of hope for liberals, as she promised not to change anything that Mr. Biden had put forth. This all seemed a bit quick and undemocratic to me, but I stayed on the watch to see what would come of it.

What came of it was a rather ragged campaign by the left, while Mr. Trump’s ideas rose in popularity. So, what to do as a voter? In my opinion, the older candidate, whom I had criticized for his age and appearance, seemed the only viable choice. The majority of Americans agreed, and so the GOP won the trifecta of the Presidency, House, and Senate.

Trump 2.0 seems to have the advantage of having been there before and is hitting the ground running at a rapid pace. I will again watch to see what becomes of the economy, the border, and our world relations. Trump is a unique leader, I think. He runs the country like a business – a skill in which he has a lot of experience. I am not unhappy with that if he gets the results our country needs. Let’s wait and see.
