Golden Eagles win on the road

Guerin Catholic’s girls got a solid road victory on Wednesday, beating New Palestine 50-43.

The Golden Eagles started strong, leading 15-10 after one quarter. Ava Bills poured in 10 points in the opening period, including two 3s. Bills continued to roll in the second quarter, adding another 10 points and helping Guerin Catholic to a 30-20 halftime lead.

The third quarter belonged to the Golden Eagles’ defense, which held the Dragons to three points. Guerin Catholic led 40-23 after three periods; Annie Murphy scored five points. New Pal made a comeback in the fourth, but GC was able to hold the Dragons off, with Murphy scoring another five points.

Bills made four 3-pointers on her way 23 points. Murphy totaled 10 points, while Lillian Behrle added seven points.

The Golden Eagles are 6-5 and host Purdue Polytechnic Englewood on Friday.
