Marlene E. “Mitzi” Loomis, 88, Indianapolis, passed away December 12, 2024. She was born on May 12, 1936, in Beaver Dam, Wis., to the late John “Jack” and Julia M. Smith.
Mitzi was a 1954 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She married Jay Loomis October 5, 1957 and together they had four children, Laurene, Sydney, Julie, and Jon. For quite some time she was a stringer for the East Troy News and had her own column. In 1969, the family moved to Noblesville.
Mitzi was employed with Hook’s Drugs/CVS for 15 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mitzi enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts and was a gifted artist. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, with visitation one hour prior.
Mitzi is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jay Loomis; her children, Laurene D. Griffin of Evansville, Sydney S. Loomis (Jeanine) of Cicero, Julie L. McKee (Bill) of The Villages, Fla., and Jon L. Loomis of Lapel; sister, Serena Fearing of Green Bay, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Bashynski.
