January 3, 1958 – December 6, 2024
James Duvall, 66, Cicero, passed away on December 6, 2024. Jim was born on January 3, 1958, to the late Arnold and Imogene Duvall. He was a devoted follower of Christ, husband, dad, brother, and pawpaw, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim was an active member of Cicero Christian Church and consistently pursued a relationship with Jesus. He loved wrestling on the floor with his grandchildren, taking them to get ice cream and spending time with his family as often as he could. He enjoyed cheering on Notre Dame football both live in the stadium and at home. Jim loved to travel and cherished fishing trips in Minnesota, where many lasting memories were made. He was a longtime member of 4-H.
Gardening was another of Jim’s great joys, as he took pride in cultivating vegetables, especially tomatoes, in his garden. He also enjoyed playing cards, particularly Euchre, and was always up for a friendly game with family and friends. He loved a good verbal challenge and will be remembered for his black-and-white perspective on life, leaving no room for gray in his mind.
Jim will be fondly remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, telling stories and jokes, his love for life, and his unwavering commitment to his family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Lynette Kay Duvall of Cicero; his son, Derek (Kristin) Duvall of Herriman, Utah; his daughter, Danielle (TJ) Witham of Zionsville; and his grandchildren, Judah, Josiah, Joash, Jubilee, and Jedidiah Duvall, and Roen and Parkston Witham. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley (Dale) Bryant of Shelbyville, Vanessa Benagh of Rushville, and Nancy (Bill) Geringer of Cicero.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Imogene Duvall, and his brother, Gary Duvall.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will follow the visitation at 1 p.m. with Adam Colter officiating. Burial will follow in Cicero Cemetery.
