Belmont University men’s basketball forward Sam Orme was named Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The Carmel native averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game as Belmont earned road victories over Atlantic Sun Conference favorite and Q2 ranked Lipscomb and Mountain West program Air Force.
Orme had 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists at Air Force.
He had 12 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots at Lipscomb – including two 3-pointers in the 19-6 run over the final 3:35 as Belmont won 80-79.
Orme has scored in double figures in three of the first four games of the season.
